Make It Happen

Hello 2017!

I'm starting this year off with positive thinking.  This year, I am changing some things.  When I started this blog almost six years ago, it was to share my home projects and get inspiration from others.  When I say wow, it's an understatement.  There is so much home decor goodness out there.  Tons of designers and aspiring decorators like me.  This blog was just an outlet.  I'm sure my husband was tired of hearing all my new ideas about what we could change in the house.  I think he was just adding up all the money it would take to fulfill my ideas.  I have always been a fan of HGTV and its makeover shows.  Anybody remember watching Trading Spaces?  Loved it.  How cool would it be to change people's houses for a living?

More and more lately, I have been dreaming on what it would be like to wake up and actually do what I love for a living.  I'm constantly browsing for eye candy, checking design blogs, scoping out model homes, and making design boards.  This is what I want to do!  Home design has completely rocked my world!  I want to make everything beautiful.  My daughter has even mentioned she wants to design rooms too.  It's fun to hear what she thinks should go on a wall or in a corner.  My dreams are having in impact on her too.  I never imagined all of this would push me to wanting a change of career.

A few months ago, I found a mug in Marshalls that caught my eye.  Make It Happen!  Yes, that's it.  No one is going to give me anything.  If I want something, I have to change things and make them happen for myself.

I see so many inspirational quotes everyday.

"She believed she could so she did."

"Pray more, worry less."

"Do what you love."

"Stop wishing, start doing."

Sure, I would see them and be like, "Me too, one day."  They were making a spark but not lighting the fire.  Until...

I was on the way to work one morning, when a radio show played a snippet of Steve Harvey's 'Jump' speech.  When I got to work, I played the entire thing and let me tell you friends, I was in tears by the end!  He talked about jumping and taking that leap of faith.  Nothing's going to happen unless you take it.  I knew at that moment, I had to make a change.  I need to be doing what makes me happy. I have these conversations over and over with my husband, mom, and friends.  They are of the belief that if I want it, I need to work towards it.

So this year I am committed to finding my purpose.  My talent.  My God-given gift.  Fear has had a hold of me because I was afraid of starting something and then it not work out.  Failing.  No more.  There is no doubt in my mind that God has destined me to be great.  With Him on my side, anything is possible.
